GMTS
Named after Greenwich Mean Time, this complication lets the wearer keep time in multiple time zones. For professionals, remote workers, and bicoastal individuals, the GMT is uniquely helpful. Some add another hand to the watch that has a more minimalist and unobtrusive look while others have subdials and larger displays.
CHRONOGRAPHS
The chronograph imparts a stopwatch function to the timepiece. They vary greatly in practical use and appearance. Chronographs can have either one or two buttons, often called “pushers.” Most have two, as it is more convenient. One pusher serves to reset the timer, and the other stops and starts it. While rare, perpetual calendars are truly marvelous complications. They require a great deal of complexity and precision underneath the case, so they tend to be found only in the most high-end timepieces. Perpetual calendars tell every detail about the time, from the month to the week to the day. They tick automatically and progress as the year goes on.
MOONPHASE
This compilation shows the viewer what phase the moon is in. Now you’ll know whether the moon is full or almost-but-not-quite full. There are several types of moonphase complications, each exhibiting a unique look. Some are like moving paintings featuring intricate details, while others are more minimalist and simplistic. Both are helpful and intriguing.
